08:02:34 <petern> Got back just in to go straight to work instead of OpenTTD 😦
08:17:17 <petern> I find it really annoying having to watch a video, especially one that rambles, to find out how to do something. Text instructions for me, please!
08:18:38 <petern> Do I need my steering wheel or flight yoke to play this simulator?
08:18:55 <petern> "Simulation" is such a weird category.
08:19:12 <LordAro> it's the closest of all the categories
08:20:25 <petern> "Business Simulation" is a totally different class from "physical" (? I'm not really sure what the word should be) Simulation really.
08:20:43 <LordAro> you had chance to object :p
08:22:23 <petern> I'm not objecting specifically, it's standard classification used everywhere. I just find *that* wrong 😄
08:23:47 <FLHerne> petern: hey, OpenTTD simulates train physics totally realistically
08:23:54 <FLHerne> it has tractive effort and everything!

09:08:00 <petern> Hmm, might be time for a new "office" chair
09:12:14 <andythenorth> I use a kitchen chair
09:12:17 <andythenorth> and an osteopath

10:32:23 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> I wish I could afford a new office chair but even cheap ones with no arms and rough fabrics are like 200-300 Canadian dollars
10:32:50 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> And they of course have tiny backs that aren't suited for long use especially if you wanna sit back and game or watch some stuff
10:33:00 <dwfreed> that's a lot of money
10:33:19 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> Yeah furniture is fucking expensive
10:33:32 <dwfreed> doesn't even make sense
10:33:40 <reldred> I usually get 5-10 years out of an office chair
10:33:49 <reldred> So I don’t mind spending a few hundred
10:33:52 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> My current chair is around 10 years old but the wheels are starting to break on it
10:34:21 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> Thats another issue too, the cheaper 200-300 dollar chairs have plastic legs and wheels that break after a while
10:34:56 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> I've been through like 3 chairs in 10 years with all of them having their plastic castor wheels break (either at the point where they swivle or the wheels break apart)
10:35:52 <reldred> I always get that boring looking ikea one with the tall back on it
10:35:54 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> I'm not doing anything extream with them other than rolling them around to get in and out of them and I'm only around 95-100 kg which shouldn't be that heavy for a chair
10:36:37 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> reldred: I wish I could get ones with tall backs as the ones they sell here are the short or mid back ones that dont support your upper back leading to neck and shoulder strain
10:39:58 <petern> I find the gas strut goes somehow. It doesn't leak, but it just doesn't go up as high any more.
10:42:50 <LordAro> i went all out and got a (second hand) Aeron a few weeks ago, after my ikea chair started disintegrating
10:43:44 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> Some how the gas cylinders on my chairs have never given out
10:44:10 <NekoMasterSomeCanadi> then again I usually keep the chairs on their lowest setting as the desks i have are low and I'm not a very tall person
10:50:12 <petern> Another "I can't open my email" issue... yeah so what? I'm a software developer...
10:54:51 <Eddi|zuHause> you don't call a doctor when your toilet doesn't flush?
10:55:08 <Eddi|zuHause> he deals with stool samples after all...
10:58:47 *** sla_ro|master has joined #openttd
11:01:53 <Rubidium> A developer makes software, right? Making and fixing is kinda the same, e.g. making/fixing dinner. So, just fix the damn email software! ;)
11:24:39 *** sla_ro|master has quit IRC ()
12:02:47 <petern> It's exactly the same thing innit 😄
12:10:48 <andythenorth> LordAro: £450 used Aerons are usually bomb-proof, and you can get spares if they need them
12:11:06 <andythenorth> we have expensive office chairs that have lasted 16 years
12:11:24 <andythenorth> and we have bought cheap ones that break after a year
12:19:48 <LordAro> managed to get mine for £400
12:30:21 *** gnu_jj_ has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 480 seconds)
12:49:45 <petern> No no no, I do not need power meters...
12:59:58 <petern> No power output there.
13:01:31 <kamnet> My current chair is 10 years old. I've got a little bit of plastic on the padded arm rest thta has come a little loose, but otherwise it's as good as the day it came home.
13:09:19 <andythenorth> I tried fancy chairs and ergonomics and stuff
13:09:31 <andythenorth> I don't seem to be designed ergonomically
13:09:35 <andythenorth> none of them really fit
13:09:58 <andythenorth> "sitting is bad anyway"
14:15:17 *** sla_ro|master has joined #openttd
14:44:12 <kamnet> My chair has a full mesh back and mesh seat, a copy of a Herman Miller Aeron chair. Not as adjustable like an authentic one, but plenty of airflow, the mesh has stayed tight and retaining its form.
15:08:48 <TallTyler> Giant Cats GRF really needs some chairs to sit in

15:18:10 <petern> Hmm, non-integer scaling is a bit hit & mass.
15:22:21 <petern> Without making all widget positions floating point it'll have to be.
15:24:22 <TallTyler> ^^ I could use some help from the experts on this one 🙂
15:27:49 <petern> Is it just Post -> SendNet ?
15:28:17 <petern> In SyncCompanySettings(), SendNet() is used to send a command, not Post().
15:31:19 <TallTyler> Why doesn't the company face GUI use SendNet()? Does it sync in a different way?
15:31:24 <TallTyler> (I'll try it though)
15:38:41 <TallTyler> That fixed it, although I found an additional bug that the first company in a network game (the client) doesn't use the favorite face... 🤔
15:39:46 <TallTyler> I truly failed to test this thoroughly 🥲
15:42:22 <petern> Probably because from the GUI it's in a GUI context.
15:42:29 <petern> It's not in a GUI context where you call it.
15:43:10 <petern> (I'm "guessing", I've not looked at the new system before.)
15:43:24 <TallTyler> Context will be the death of me
15:44:08 <TallTyler> So far I've mostly avoided it in OpenTTD but I'm building a program for my real job using TypeScript, React, and MobX and having a very frustrating time 🙃
15:52:29 <petern> I'm good at breaking things...
15:57:53 *** D-HUND is now known as debdog
16:11:10 <petern> Hmm, OpenTTD or bike ride...
16:30:55 <andythenorth> TallTyler: Overuse of “context” in normal conversation is a good indicator that someone is a python web dev
16:52:38 <frosch> #10024 is 3 weeks to early for hackoberfest

17:03:25 <petern> Weird how WWT_PANEL is NWidgetBackg
17:04:41 <petern> Weird how WWT_PANEL is NWidgetBackground, but WWT_PUSHBTN (WWT_PANEL | WWB_PUSHBUTTON) is NWidgetLeaf 😄
17:59:51 <andythenorth> “RVs LOL” is probably not a useful comment 🙃
18:00:05 <andythenorth> I am using RVs in my current game
18:00:58 <frosch> i tried to make an exemplary bug report, with images, and savegame for reproducing
18:01:01 <petern> FGS, how is it 7pm already
18:01:40 <petern> "I'll go out on the bike in a second"... 2 hours later.

18:22:17 <TrueBrain> frosch: I even made a movie. Just disappointing :p
18:24:28 <andythenorth> I have been making movies
18:24:41 <andythenorth> soon we can have the bug in AR though?
18:25:15 <andythenorth> or will it be 'reproduce by typing [foo] into Stable Diffusion prompt'?
18:34:41 <andythenorth> hmm time to make FIRS generate stations?
18:34:49 <andythenorth> what time do I want to sleep tonight? 😛

19:11:21 <frosch> TrueBrain: your issue 9033 is a very different one. my report is essentially the requested triage for 9236
19:12:05 <frosch> nah, not even, 9236 is just a vehicle in a corner
19:12:23 <frosch> rv never overtake in corners, so even that is a different issue, if an issue at all
19:17:55 <andythenorth> what limits dual lane roads?
19:18:03 <andythenorth> effort, or something architectural?
19:18:09 <LordAro> frosch: probably all the same issue though
19:29:44 <TrueBrain> frosch: owh, so we are just collecting RV overtake bugs 😛
19:29:51 <TrueBrain> maybe we should just remove RVs, tbh
19:30:28 <frosch> pff, just excuses to not make heqs2
19:30:45 <frosch> reducing feature gap for truegrf etc
19:33:48 <andythenorth> we already removed ships some versions ago
19:33:52 <andythenorth> according to blog
