00:43:58 <_bruceleet> Does OpenTTD still support win9x?
00:46:10 <reldred> peter1138: Theyโre all edge webview apps nowโฆ ๐ฆ
00:47:08 <peter1138> I only ever access them as web pages from Chromium anyway.
00:48:29 <peter1138> Firefox is my daily driver but, well...
00:49:07 <reldred> Yeah, I do like keeping personal seperate from work like that. Though I tend to use Edge for work stuff (on windows and Mac at least)
00:50:28 <goddess_ishtar> god don't remind me
00:51:10 <goddess_ishtar> I'm so bitter that my uni migrated from Gmail to Outlook and it completely broke my SMTP setup
00:52:24 <goddess_ishtar> filed a ticket, got told "this is a Microsoft problem and we can't fix it"
00:52:59 <goddess_ishtar> because Outlook doesn't play nicely with Thunderbird for some reason, only the native Outlook application, which doesn't have a Linux build
00:53:07 <goddess_ishtar> so it's basically "screw you, webmail now"
00:53:17 <reldred> We do smtp with 365 all the time
00:54:12 <goddess_ishtar> ...can't remember if it was IMAP now that was giving my issues
00:55:04 <reldred> It just gets tricky with MFA, if the apps donโt do oauth2 properly you need to create an app password
00:55:19 <reldred> Pretty much same as gmail in that regard
00:55:32 <goddess_ishtar> oh right, that was the issue
00:55:41 <goddess_ishtar> shit I remember now
00:56:03 <goddess_ishtar> couldn't pull emails with IMAP because oauth2 wasn't letting me authenticate
00:56:56 <reldred> Yeah, app password. You can self administer it from 365/azure ad/entra id online
00:57:05 <reldred> Donโt need any fancy privileges
00:57:19 <reldred> We do it all the time for photocopiers scan to email and other stuff
00:57:45 <goddess_ishtar> thanks, I'm going to look into that
00:57:54 <goddess_ishtar> ~~if only the uni IT department was that helpful~~
00:59:21 <peter1138> What do you mean I can't u se mutt?

07:17:10 <pickpacket> _bruceleet: only one way to find out, but I would assume it doesn't.
07:19:45 <peter1138> Oh, the underscore username doesn't get bridged thing.
07:25:57 <_bruceleet> pickpacket: There any resources on targetting different systems?
07:26:30 <_bruceleet> looking at the old builds andmessing with the shell scripts is a pain.
07:28:26 <peter1138> Well, it wasn't that then.
07:29:06 <pickpacket> _bruceleet: not that I know of

08:51:58 <_bruceleet> peter1138: Thanks... I must admit I hate cmake.. unless it just works.. not so much tinkering with it.
08:52:14 *** mindlesstux has joined #openttd
08:52:56 <_bruceleet> But yea.. Been looking at porting OpenTTD to the dreamcast.. it was done like 18 years ago? or something silly lol. So I may stick to a older build.. If it means not having to up-port a load of libaries that have been added in the mean time or try to remove them..
08:54:11 <_bruceleet> The build system is the bitch haha. if I can crack that it should be easy.
08:57:21 <_bruceleet> But I'd be curious as to what you guys think of the feasibility of it. Back in 2008 it got ported to the Dreamcast. I have no idea how it ran because I'm only going by an old blog post. I'm guessing large maps didn't work as the dreamcast only has 16mb ram.
08:57:21 <_bruceleet> We recently managed to upgrade the dreamcast to 32mb's of ram though.
09:14:11 <peter1138> Well we need a C++20 capable compiler these days, and that memory limit is probably too tight for modern OpenTTD.
09:14:23 <peter1138> Personally I don't see the point of porting an old version.
09:19:04 <peter1138> 16MB and 200MHz SH4. That's probably not going to be very fun.
09:23:27 <_bruceleet> yea we got c++23 ๐
09:23:27 <_bruceleet> yea I agree wont be much fun. It's mainly doing it because we can ๐
09:23:27 <_bruceleet> We got people getting minecraft, gta3, half life and a load of other stuff onto the dreamcast.
09:53:05 <audigex> Iโd ask why but Iโm scared of the answer
09:55:43 <_jgr_> It seems more sensible than running on a car, what's to be scared of? ๐
09:59:15 <_bruceleet> Lol. We aren't that nuts. We got quite a few guys who works on the dreamcast VMU though. that has a 1mhz chip and 128K of ram.. funnily enough I ask them the same question.. why? ๐
10:01:15 <LordAro> (and the code has moved on *a lot* since)
10:01:37 <peter1138> 256 bytes of RAM in the VMU.
10:03:55 <LordAro> 256 bytes ought to be enough for anyone
10:05:17 <_bruceleet> peter1138: my bad flash memory is 128k. I think the ram is actually 512 bytes divided into two banks.. If I remember right.
10:05:38 <peter1138> Half of it is reserved.
10:07:02 <peter1138> Ah, there is another 512 bytes of "Work" RAM.
10:07:55 <_bruceleet> I'm not vmu guy. But we did have someone come in and stick a arm emulator on it to right C code on it.. lol.
10:07:56 <peter1138> And yes, the 256 bytes is banked, Fun.
10:08:44 <_bruceleet> Did a good right up on it if your interested ๐

11:39:10 <johnfranklin> mistakenly pressed a sign and recovered the Windows.
11:45:41 <peter1138> I've managed to get my team (non-developers) to start reporting issues in gitea, instead of randomly over Excel spreadsheets, Teams messages or worse, by phone.
11:46:01 <peter1138> But I think I may need to set up an issue template to prompt them for a little bit more information... ๐
11:51:03 <peter1138> Definitely lacking context.

14:23:10 <audigex> _jgr_: I didn't cross compile it for the car, in my defence ๐
15:36:51 <LordAro> presumably it'd actually be both - obviously needs implementing in the game, but would then just be GRF only
15:37:20 <LordAro> i can't imagine we'd actually provide new sprites for the base game
15:37:43 <peter1138> Or a setting to enable it, lol
15:40:59 <belajalilija> Flat docks would be cool yeah
15:54:54 <peter1138> If only I had a patch...
