06:15:50 <marktheshark3209> marktheshark3209: I think this issue was actually due to different default service interval setting when using wallclock
06:33:27 <peter1138> Hmm, do rail / road types need to store the grffile of each Action 3?
06:38:42 <peter1138> Would it ever be desirable to have different NewGRFs provide different parts of a rail/road type?
06:48:36 *** ChanServ sets mode: +v tokai
06:55:39 *** tokai|noir has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 480 seconds)
07:16:36 <andythenorth> signals or catenary maybe?
07:16:40 <andythenorth> oh wait....ground tiles 😛
07:18:26 <peter1138> Also what are we calling these purchase-list overlay icons as a NewGRF feature?
07:18:53 <andythenorth> then we can have tile decor later
07:19:00 <andythenorth> and liveries can be vehicle decor 😛
07:19:20 <andythenorth> or we could call them stickers
07:19:32 <andythenorth> or structured metadata

09:31:37 <peter1138> Oh, my VPN stopped working 😮
09:31:45 <peter1138> IPSec is up, L2TP not so much. Weird.
09:36:07 <peter1138> Well, killing IPSec fixed it.
09:39:29 <peter1138> "But we have to slow down"
09:39:45 <LordAro> eh, our club rides aren't as fast as yours :p
09:42:44 <peter1138> Sunday was a group I've not been out with before.
09:51:48 <peter1138> Also LEJOG in 5 days. Fricking hell.
09:55:53 <peter1138> Definitely have to pace yourself doing that. We've got another long day coming up (~250km) and I bet my group will want to do it flat out all the way again...
09:59:21 <LordAro> I find doing anything beyond 200k at anyone else's pace really difficult
10:03:36 <peter1138> When they're still trying to average 20mph...
10:03:58 <peter1138> Clearly I'm just getting old 😉

10:51:37 <peter1138> Do we do implicit SSL or explicit SSL FTP these days...?
10:56:48 <peter1138> "Royal we" that is, not "OpenTTD we" 🙂
11:14:58 <truebrain> wait, people still do FTP?
11:36:05 <pickpacket> truebrain: they always will
11:37:50 <truebrain> are those the same people that still use IRC? 😛 😛
11:56:32 <peter1138> Well actually, I think this customer couldn't connect because I'd completely forgotten about allowing port 22 in the firewall 😄
12:00:34 <peter1138> Now ideally I'd put it all behind VPNs too, but that's a bit of a management headache with 3rd parties.
12:01:30 <audigex> FTP can still be useful, although I'm suspicious of anyone using it as their primary deployment method...
12:01:30 <audigex> Although I don't really worry about SSL - nothing I do goes over the public internet now. If I need to FTP to it, it's on my Tailnet (Tailscale network) or I insist on being given a wireguard config into the network in question (but that's very rarely needed now)
12:03:03 <audigex> I still tick the option when installing (never turn down more security) but it'll just be whatever vsftpd uses, I've never given it much thought because it's not my primary security layer
12:03:21 <audigex> ... implicit, apparently, according to wikipedia
12:06:17 <peter1138> There's more uses for transfering files than deployment. 🙂
12:07:14 <audigex> Sure, but I'd rarely need FTP for those myself (acknowledging that my use case isn't universal)
12:07:19 <peter1138> I think the name "implicit SSL" was chosen to imply that it's not as good.
12:09:33 <peter1138> More importantly, I wonder why my Minecraft server crashed 😒
13:16:14 <pickpacket> truebrain: purportedly, although I've never personally used FTP much 😄
13:16:52 <truebrain> peter1138: noooooooooo

15:32:53 *** Zathras is now known as debdog
15:53:26 <johnfranklin> 1. in my high school computer; (3 years ago)
15:53:27 <johnfranklin> 2. to upload files to my personal website
16:08:10 <goddess_ishtar> I use sftp for that
16:19:43 *** XYZ_ has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 480 seconds)
16:22:04 <johnfranklin> My father had some dizzy feelings like carsickness when looking at me playing minecraft
16:22:12 <johnfranklin> that was nearly 10 years ago
16:39:27 <johnfranklin> hmm, the habit of the frequency of `git commit` might affect the rank of contributors...
16:55:52 <wensimehrp> Half of Kaitokiwa2020's commits are `Add files via upload`
17:12:25 <audigex> johnfranklin: I get it with some games: Half Life does it really badly for me (but not counter strike for some reason, despite being the same engine)
17:12:37 <audigex> The missus struggles with Hogwarts Legacy
17:16:02 <_glx_> and I often have motion sickness when watching streams of games in FPS
17:16:29 <_glx_> especially when player has very high mouse sensitivity
