04:40:47 <DorpsGek> - Update: Translations from eints (by translators)
06:15:24 <andythenorth> can I have a flag for roads that limits each tile to just 2 connections via the trackbits?
06:15:37 <andythenorth> [to make pipelines]
07:43:08 <pickpacket> andythenorth: are you making the pipelines a road type? What are the vehicles in that case?
07:46:07 *** SigHunter has joined #openttd
08:22:44 <andythenorth> so in PIPE.grf there are 'pumps' implemented as trains
08:23:02 <andythenorth> PIPE.grf works ok, I just don't like the sprites, so my original idea was to make my own equivalent
08:23:50 <andythenorth> but roadtypes are more compact in terms of tiles, bidirectional flow on the same tile, so it's possibly better to use them
08:23:54 <andythenorth> and they don't need signalling
08:24:02 <andythenorth> signalling is the strangest aspect of PIPE.grf
08:38:17 <pickpacket> but... do the pumps move along the pipe?
08:39:18 <pickpacket> if the pipes are bi-directional it may be better to have two parallel pipes on each tile sprite
08:46:16 <emperorjake> The pumps are just trains and the pipes are tracks
08:46:36 <emperorjake> a roadtype would make more sense but the PIPE GRF predated roadtypes
08:56:37 *** mindlesstux has joined #openttd
08:59:11 <andythenorth> it functions fine in game, it's just a bit clunky
10:36:35 <talltyler> Does it make more sense as a roadtype or tramtype?
10:42:30 *** amadeus6152 has joined #openttd
10:42:30 <amadeus6152> Not at all a dev but would want to say tram because sometimes towns build funny with road NewGRFs
10:48:16 <Eddi|zuHause> do we have a tram flag that says "cannot be on a road"?
10:59:30 <andythenorth> Pipelines on roads?
11:00:27 <andythenorth> We know that extending the grf spec to support creative hacks is the best idea
11:00:51 <andythenorth> That’s why we have a ctrl-click counter instead of Variants
11:00:58 <Eddi|zuHause> well, there are non-hacky uses for such a flag
11:01:06 <Eddi|zuHause> like, trams with higher speed limit
11:03:56 <andythenorth> Do we have any map bits?
11:13:50 <Eddi|zuHause> that doesn't need any map bits

11:17:04 *** johnfranklin has joined #openttd
11:17:25 <emperorjake> amadeus6152: Towns will only build with certain allowed roadtypes
11:18:18 <emperorjake> A tram flag that disallows it from being on a road would be very useful for making rubber tired people mover and light metro systems
11:18:29 *** johnfranklin has quit IRC ()
11:18:35 <emperorjake> as well as non-suspended monorails
11:18:54 <talltyler> The Flume! GRF might be a good reference for how to do this

11:43:56 <peter1138> Just add a totally new tile type.

11:50:51 <talltyler> Ah, LordAro already approved, guess I will merge 🙂
12:01:28 <johnfranklin> "Wolf01 entered the room", guessing
12:31:54 <johnfranklin> May I ask a question: Once upon a time (well, December 2023), the OpenTTD China Set devteam decided to use voxels to build train models. I picked your BR 43 IC125 model to make DF11G, and Pullman Coach model to make 25T. The question is, it is too late to realise our license GPL2 conflicts with your license CC-BY-NC-SA3. We are also fixing the troublesome models now, but: 1) it takes time 2) many troublesome versions have already published.
12:32:27 <johnfranklin> Will you sue us?
12:32:42 <Timberwolf> I think it's just BY-SA.
12:33:02 <Timberwolf> I'm fine with GPL2 if you're complying with it, though.
12:34:10 <johnfranklin> Thank you so much, we will fix those troublesome models soon
12:35:10 <johnfranklin> Literally it is nearly ALL standard passenger coaches, especially bogies
12:37:37 *** johnfranklin has quit IRC (Quit: johnfranklin)
12:38:12 <Timberwolf> tbh the only thing I wanted to avoid was the set getting rolled up more or less as-is, a couple of the stats changed or maybe some models being added, and being released as "The GPL extra res train set" with all mention of my work scrubbed.
13:31:07 <reldred> it's alright I think *that* person has gone now anyway
14:01:08 <Eddi|zuHause> there'll be other ones
14:02:19 <andythenorth> peter1138: lunch tile?
14:12:12 <peter1139> "Why is 4096x4096 slow?" Hmm, well...
14:16:16 <peter1139> 4096x4096 lunch tiles?
14:27:01 <Eddi|zuHause> that's a loooot of lunch
14:32:00 <talltyler> Hmm, probably should be something unreadable like `LBVB` = Lunch type, B-level calorie count, Vegetable type, Bowl used for serving
14:32:17 <talltyler> What is the axle loading class of a salad?
14:35:32 <talltyler> I’m getting back into Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic now that they released 1.0, and it feels like it was developed by a bunch of NewGRF authors. Such an amazing, deep game, but the “design by addition” philosophy means it has a pretty high skill floor, even with all the hard features like water, electricity, fuel, waste, etc. disabled.
14:39:19 <michi_cc> The problem with WRSR is that it just has soo many bugs and rough edges. I mean there's not even a fully working windowed/fullscreen mode switch.
15:02:06 <talltyler> To be fair, OpenTTD is about the only game I trust to play in windowed mode without crashing occasionally when focus changes.
15:10:43 <peter1139> There's a whole in my UI, dear liza, dear liza...
15:15:37 <Eddi|zuHause> who said windows needed to be convex, anyway? :p
15:31:48 <peter1139> Hmm, not much point in screenshots :)
15:41:14 <_glx_> I understand it's not consistent 🙂
16:20:20 <peter1139> (Awkward, a fix for a bug that only occurs if you do something else that can't happen... but...)
16:23:15 *** Wormnest has joined #openttd
17:21:42 <Eddi|zuHause> if it's not user-visible, doesn't that constitute a "codechange" instead of a "fix"?
