00:36:20 <talltyler> Is the opposite of “it didn’t build, let’s try again” building again after a tough rebase, just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke? 🤔

03:18:40 <gabriel_perez> How trains follow the path generated by pathfinder?
03:20:44 <gabriel_perez> I mean with smoth movement
03:42:33 <pickpacket> keseliman: there’s no easy way to do it, but a good start could be to modify an existing sprite gradually. You’ll get to see and know some techniques
03:44:40 <pickpacket> keseliman: Your train is ”flat”. Light comes from the right in openttd, meaning shadow is on th
03:44:56 <pickpacket> e left and downward sides
03:45:44 <pickpacket> if you add some shade you’llimmediately see a big improvement

08:24:38 <truebrain> still need to migrate the bridge; but it is tricky to assign an IPv6 range ..
08:25:30 <dwfreed[d]> I do like the cat avatars the IRC users get here
08:25:43 <truebrain> better than a boring Discord icon 😛
08:26:09 <dwfreed[d]> are they from a short list or something? I kind of want to steal mine and set it as my actual discord avatar
08:26:25 <truebrain> some services does this .. let's see which I ended up picking ..
08:29:55 <truebrain> okay, so my 2 public hosts get an /80 IPv6 .. I need to use at least 2 /96s from that. But the IRC bridge kinda wants a full /80. I can assign an additional /80 to those hosts, but administrative that becomes tricky .. hmmmmm
08:31:07 <dwfreed[d]> get a linode and get you a /64
08:35:59 <truebrain> okay, I actually only need 4 bits, so I can do a /84 .. does mean I need to modify the code to allow for that, but there isn't a bit difference between 48bit or 44bit for username encoding .. both can cause a collision, both are not likely 😛
08:37:08 <truebrain> right, so next issue is to generate that IPv6 in Nomad .. no clue how to do that .. let's find out 🙂
08:40:38 <truebrain> so the main difference on this new location will be, that the IPv6 range used changes between restarts of the bridge. All within the same (but different) /64. So I guess that will be fine.
09:20:48 *** keikoz has quit IRC (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
09:58:37 <truebrain> okay, all the pieces are cut; now I just have to put them together 🙂 It requires a full reprovision of the cluster, so I will do that after lunch 🙂
12:25:29 <truebrain> oops .... I took a node offline by sending an invalid configuration 😄
12:25:50 <truebrain> there was some unplanned outage 😛
12:26:02 <truebrain> luckily enough it auto-heals 🙂
12:26:54 *** talltyler has joined #openttd
12:26:54 <talltyler> Now, does it build? 😄
12:27:06 <talltyler> (my PR, not your offline node)
12:42:31 <Rubidium> why did that make me think of "will it blend"?
13:05:58 <truebrain> hmm .. creating outbound connections from the new host fails .. what did I do wrong ...
13:07:02 <truebrain> ah, missing route, duh
13:32:49 <truebrain> hmm, annoying, the routes aren't listening to my `metric` instructions ... well, sometimes it does, but sometimes it does not
13:47:39 <truebrain> need to cycle our cluster again .. so there will be once again some downtime! The amount of downtime these days .... could have better used a MBP tbfh 🙂

14:36:07 <truebrain> right ... and the bill of next month will tell me if I forgot to remove anything of the old infra .. there isn't an easy way I could find to list all your resources in AWS, so .. we just look at the bill and go from there 😄

15:55:37 <talltyler> Holy unexplained game mechanics, batman. "Minimal amount of cargo before transporting to stations" <-- What is the usecase for this?
15:57:08 <talltyler> I just spent over an hour trying to figure out why, in my cargo scaling branch, forests keep saying 0 production while other industries almost never do. It's because when the rate is rounded down to 0, we adjust with random, and forests need three production ticks per month to show any cargo moved

15:57:11 <andythenorth> "probably a reason at the time"
15:58:44 <talltyler> With full knowledge that I might be blaming somebody here (or CS himself), I blame the same person who added `air_drag_coefficient` simulation to a pixel train game 😛
15:59:10 <talltyler> Anyway, I guess I can update my PR now that I know it's not broken 🙂
16:00:15 <talltyler> Hmm, maybe the thinking was multi-ton automobiles or whatever
