11:10:33 <juzza1> has anyone gotten original transport tycoon sounds working in dosbox?
11:15:33 <planetmaker> lol. why would you play openttd in dosbox?
11:16:02 <planetmaker> oh... without deluxe might... be difficult
11:24:25 <juzza1> i recall never getting the sounds to work even in the good'ol days
11:24:47 <planetmaker> not sure you can derive conclusions from one thing to the other
11:25:03 <planetmaker> (in other words: you can't ;-) )
11:25:32 <planetmaker> they interface devices differently afaik
11:27:11 <juzza1> im not talking about openttd or ttdpatch, just the original dos version of transpot tycoon
11:27:20 <Eddi|zuHause> i never had that kind of problem
11:27:59 <Eddi|zuHause> just put in the numbers that you have in your BLASTER variable when running the setup
11:28:20 <Eddi|zuHause> and everything Should Just Work (TM)
11:28:30 <juzza1> i've tried sb16, sb clone, adlib, sb pro
11:29:01 <Eddi|zuHause> but i can't test now, because i lost my original TT disk, and my backups are broken

13:35:51 <DorpsGek> Commit by michi_cc :: r25269 trunk/src/music/dmusic.cpp (2013-05-20 13:35:41 UTC)
13:35:52 <DorpsGek> -Feature [FS#5552]: [Win32] Driver param for the DirectMusic driver to specify the ouput port to use. (Based on patch by gulikoza)
13:38:04 <DorpsGek> Commit by rubidium :: r25270 trunk/src/widgets/link_graph_legend_widget.h (2013-05-20 13:37:59 UTC)
13:38:05 <DorpsGek> -Fix: @file wrong for link_graph_legend_widget.h
14:18:34 <perk111> The game becomes very slow after I play for a while. And when I rejoin network game the speed is decent again, but the more I play the slower it becomes untill after about an hour it times out and gets disconnected. Can the cargo flow be the reason of it? I don't remember having this problem before
14:19:28 <Eddi|zuHause> sprite cache size? memory leak?
14:19:50 <Eddi|zuHause> if it's gone after rejoin, it can't be anything intrinsic to the game state
14:20:27 <perk111> max_sprite_cache_size = 64 sprite_cache_size_px = 128
14:20:47 <perk111> memory usage seems to be fine, but CPU is not
14:22:17 <planetmaker> only one or the other is used, perk111. Not sure which is the current name :-)
14:22:39 <perk111> I didn't change it anyway
14:22:46 <perk111> should I increase it?
14:24:13 *** perk111 is now known as perk11
14:32:12 <Eddi|zuHause> just delete the lines, and it'll fill out the default values
14:49:12 <perk11> and the one with px is used
15:36:19 <tycoondemon> so do I understand right that gridlines will not be coming back?
15:40:48 <tycoondemon> ow its an grf setting...
15:41:47 <V453000> the original graphics cannot be changed anyway tycoondemon ;)
15:42:12 <planetmaker> I should make more such comments which can only be understood when context is viewed ;-)
15:43:05 <tycoondemon> yes well, when an "official" 32bpp will come out, will it support gridlines?
15:43:24 <planetmaker> zBase does support gridlines?
15:43:36 <perk11> it doesn't have them I guess
15:44:33 <tycoondemon> official is like, wich is shiped default with stable openttd
15:44:59 <planetmaker> no graphics are shipped with any openttd
15:45:08 <Rubidium> thus... openttd doesn't have official graphics, sounds or music
15:45:32 <tycoondemon> a default shipped newgrf then?
15:45:37 <planetmaker> except openttd.grf really
15:45:37 <perk11> yes I was wrong, zBase does have gridlines
15:45:56 <planetmaker> tycoondemon, why should we suddenly start doing so?
15:46:55 <tycoondemon> well when you install a fresh game without the original cat files
15:47:12 <tycoondemon> it also works, so then it has use some kind of default graphic
15:47:24 <planetmaker> what is "original"?
15:48:09 * planetmaker has a different idea of what constitutes "original work" :-)
15:48:51 *** DarkAce-Z is now known as DarkAceZ
15:49:06 <tycoondemon> I did not say original work
15:49:25 <tycoondemon> original is simply a term to refer to the old ttd files
15:50:22 <tycoondemon> I still have an win95 pc with ttd on it
15:50:35 <tycoondemon> and I eaven have an install cd somewhere
15:50:49 <tycoondemon> the cat file from that, do I refer to as original
15:54:15 <perk11> when you use installer the game offers to download the OpenGFX. And even if you don't do it, it still offers to do so on first run if no graffic sets are found, so OpenGFX may be considered default graphics set
15:55:17 <tycoondemon> this is what I mean
15:55:46 <planetmaker> yet openttd does not ship it ;-) </splitting hairs>
15:58:33 <planetmaker> though from an end-user perspective the difference is rather academic

16:03:34 <planetmaker> tycoondemon, generally, many things can be improved
16:03:48 <planetmaker> it's a matter that they bother s/o enough to actually spend time on improving them
16:04:27 <planetmaker> everything here is publicly accessible... thus anyone can have a look how things work and work on improving it the way s/he think it's better
16:04:37 <planetmaker> Then it's a matter of being convincing that many people agree
16:09:32 <planetmaker> the 'being convincing' part actually is not required really

17:44:49 <Zuu> I don't really like the clear split between the phone and the back cover. But at least its not just a black phone for everyone.

17:46:00 <peter1138> why would i buy a phone? hmm
17:46:14 <Markk> That phone is quite ugly.
17:46:33 <Markk> Resembles Windows Phones quite a bit.
17:49:18 <Markk> "dual core" doesn't say much really.
17:49:44 <Markk> A HTC One X+ is better and you could probably get one cheaper today as well.
17:49:45 <__ln__> the back cover is replaceable, and may even have some electronics in it
17:50:10 *** funnyguy3D has joined #openttd
17:55:07 <__ln__> they haven't said exactly what the back cover will be, but i doubt they would make such a big deal about it if it was only a color cover. but it is also a color cover like in 3310.
17:56:04 <__ln__> but this Jolla is interesting because it won't be just another android, but instead they have their own operating system.

20:16:28 <planetmaker> MNIM, airport rotations are in trunk for two years
20:16:41 <planetmaker> you just need to use a NewGRF which supports it

20:28:54 <planetmaker> MNIM, in the build view of airports you have tiny buttons which can rotate the airports left / right
20:45:33 <MNIM> planetmaker: sorry for the late response, bu-nevermind
20:45:39 <MNIM> tiny buttons sounds about right
20:45:50 <peter1138> typical. SMART says my broken hdd is fine
20:48:50 <peter1138> raw read error rate = 0
20:49:27 <MNIM> peter1138: dumb suggestion, maybe, but have you tried blaming the OS yet?
20:55:29 <MNIM> Oops. another one of my silly stupid little errors.
20:56:07 <MNIM> forgot to build back a bridge
20:56:07 <MNIM> trains jammed up over three stations
20:59:09 <permagreen> Yesterday I spent a good five minutes trying to figure out why my buses couldn't get out of the depot only to discover I'd built it facing the wrong way
21:06:05 <NGC3982> So do having the additional stroke once and awhile.
21:06:44 <permagreen> It's like the old saying goes: You can't learn how to use signals without blowing up a few trains
21:07:51 <peter1138> MNIM, i could, but the way the drive stops spinning every now and then is ominous :p

21:15:08 <MNIM> any blown trains were usually the result of me forgetting to pause while messing with them
21:15:53 <MNIM> peter1138: okay, probably not the OS.
