13:37:06 <z-MaTRiX> wow there is opendune?
13:39:14 <z-MaTRiX> always hated the 320x240 resolution
13:39:37 <Xaroth|Work> well it's now double-res so it's technically still 320x240 :P
13:39:39 <Alberth> no worries, it is still there :)
13:52:59 <Alberth> as usual, nobody removed the limitations yet
13:54:15 <z-MaTRiX> sounds like a little bit of coordinate transformation
13:55:02 <Alberth> if you want to really display more of the game field, scaling won't help
13:55:21 <Alberth> you really need to change the code that draws the field, etc
13:55:27 <z-MaTRiX> was meaning to display 4x playing field
13:55:59 <z-MaTRiX> given same textures and everything same
13:56:02 <Alberth> make a few new sprites ;)
13:56:39 <z-MaTRiX> is increasing graphic detail in schedule?
13:56:41 <Alberth> scaling existing sprites just makes it more ugly
13:56:49 <Xaroth|Work> added to that, if you do extend the viewport, the map suddenly becomes quite small :P
13:57:16 <Alberth> afaik there is no schedule defined, so no doubt it fits in it :D
13:57:22 <z-MaTRiX> well it can have a zoom function
13:57:48 <Alberth> hmm, perhaps in a different way than you want
13:58:18 <z-MaTRiX> the mouse scrolling zoom is coolness
13:59:03 <Alberth> it's just a useless whistle imo, you better spend your time on better game play
13:59:52 <z-MaTRiX> i'd think my computer has at least 10x speed needed
14:00:01 <Alberth> also, such features do not fit in the idea of keeping the original Dune2 feeling
14:00:26 <z-MaTRiX> the dune2 was designed for 66MHz 486 dx-4 with edo ram
14:00:28 <Alberth> games are only fun if you need all your processor power?
14:00:56 <z-MaTRiX> integer zoom should not take much cpu
14:01:18 <Xaroth|Work> keep in mind tho, that the first rule of OpenDUNE
14:01:32 <Xaroth|Work> is that whatever we change on it, it HAS to remain in the spirit of Dune
14:14:30 <z-MaTRiX> added myself to usergroup `audio' wondering if i will have access to soundcards adter relogin
14:16:49 <Alberth> just open your computer, and you can touch the soundcard even without being a member of the audio usergroup :p
14:17:42 <z-MaTRiX> just wait till' i encrypt it ;)
14:18:15 <Alberth> yummy, scrambled soundcard :D
15:00:38 <Alberth> ha! /me re-found my K&R copy
continue to next day ⏵
